Lena will be teaching the Yoga sessions
Yin Yang Yoga blends two styles of yoga into one practice – bringing together the benefits of passively holding yoga poses with more dynamic sequences and standing postures.
Yin and Yang are the Taoist concepts which describe the two relative qualities present in everything. Yin is more internal, passive, cooling and downward. While Yang is more external, dynamic, warming and upward.
When these terms are applied to yoga, Yin Yoga is a slower practice where poses are passively held for longer, working on the deep, dense (Yin) connective tissues and joints in the body. Yang Yoga in contrast refers to a more active practice working on the (Yang) muscles and blood flow, building strength, stamina and flexibility. Yang styles of yoga are those with rhythm and repetition like Vinyasa Flow.
For a balanced yoga practice we need to include both Yang and Yin aspects. Combining both Yin and Yang elements in one class provides a balanced practice and can have a powerful effect on energy levels.
The Yoga sessions will be combined with the Sound-healing. The Yin Yoga sessions will be supported by the use of the healing instruments.
Deva will lead the sound-healing sessions
Sound healing is one of the oldest and most natural forms of healing known to man.
It uses the power of sound to restore one’s mind, body and spirit back to a state of balance. The harmonic vibrations from the instruments have a deep penetrating effect on the receiver, promoting healing and well-being.
The sound waves from the instruments entrain the brain to move into the deeper Alpha, Theta and Delta brain wave frequencies, inducing a deep meditative and peaceful state. As human beings, we are comprised mainly of liquid, these vibrations deeply penetrate our bodies, moving through our tissues and organs. The sound resonates directly into our cellular memory releasing blockages and creating a profound sense of peace and relaxation.
Sound baths are meant to help facilitate a shift in your brainwave state. Through frequency and entrainment with sound it’s possible, and very easy, to down-shift our normal beta state (normal waking consciousness) to alpha (relaxed consciousness), with the majority of people able to reach theta (meditative state) and even delta (where internal healing can occur). This experience is helpful for anyone who wants to give themselves a moment of relaxation or gain the benefits from meditation, but has not yet learned how to access on their own.
For beginners, meditation requires a verbally guided experience, i.e- go to a quiet place and find a stream or repeat a mantra… The sound bath experience is about letting the sound take you to a deeper place making it easier to arrive in a relaxed state without complicating how to get there. Sound is the vessel and it allows you to explore and identify what a meditative state is and how it feels. Because of this, a sound bath is not only beneficial for beginners of meditation, a seasoned meditator will find as many benefits.
The sounds are created by a wide range of instruments (about 150 instruments) with different frequencies which can include pulse drumming, Biosonic tuning forks, gongs, shruti box, Himalayan singing bowl, mbiru, various percussion, chimes, overtone singing, indian, latin and aborigines flutes, Coto Japanese , hand Arp,etc…
The sound bed or flat monochord—as it is sometimes called—is used in sound and music therapy. The stable construction of the 2-m long instrument conveys a safe and secure feeling. In India the sound bed has been used in therapeutic healing for centuries. The person lying on the sound bed is being played on from below. The acoustic sound experience of the complex harmony and the physical perception of the vibrations have a directly stimulating effect on the body.
Harmonious sounds can arrange water molecules in a perfect pattern—healing through sounds all the way down to the cell structure!
The acoustic openings on the surface of the sound bed correspond to the chakras and the knees of the person lying on it.
