Ibiza Yoga Retreat

All Yoga classes are held in English

Our yoga program includes:

6 hours of theory divided in 4 parts during the week:

First Theory class (1,5 hour):

During this session you will receive important and inspiring information about the yoga philosophy allowing you to understand in a very simple and deeper way different aspects about the origin, types, and goals of Yoga. You will learn about:

  • Vedanta Philosophy, one of the world’s most ancient spiritual philosophies and one of its broadest, based on the Vedas, the sacred scriptures of India.
  • The three Gunas, Just as all colors can be created from combinations of the three primary colors of red, yellow and blue, so, too, is all of experience and all of creation formed from three aspects, or gunas: Satva, Rajas and Tamas. These three qualities are the ingredients of all mental and physical existence.
  • The four paths of Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Karma Yoga, and Raja Yoga. These four paths of Yoga are aspects of a whole that is called Yoga. The four paths of Yoga work together, like fingers on a hand.
  • The 8 limbs of Raja Yoga , Yama (attitudes toward our environment), Niyama (attitudes toward ourselves), Asana (physical postures), Pranayama (restraint or expansion of the breath), Pratyahara (withdrawal of the senses),Dharana (concentration), Dhyana (meditation) and Samadhi (complete integration).

Second Theory class (1,5 hour):

  • You will learn about the chakras, the etheric body and how yoga benefits not only your physical body but also your energetic body. The connections between the Chakras and your glandular system and the importance of bringing your practice to a deeper pranic level.
  • The physical body is made of energy that vibrates very slowly, which is why it appears to our physical eyes to be solid. Through lack of  information we have tended to focus exclusively on the physical aspect of ourselves without recognizing that it is actually created from and sustained by the energetic layers that are outside of our normal vision.
  • These energetic layers or subtle bodies create an interconnected field of energy around the physical body that is commonly known as the auric field. Each subtle body connects into the physical body via an energy point or chakra, which directs the energy into the physical body via the meridian and system.
  • In this workshop you are going to learn about the subtle bodies in order to understand its connections with the physical body and how to use this knowledge in your yoga sessions.

Third Theory class (2 hours)

  • You will learn about Ayurveda principles based on a correct diet and healthy life style. During this class you will receive many important tips about food combinations and personal diet according to your nature and your Dosha ( personal physical and mental constitution).
  • The aim of this workshop is to promote understanding of  the basic principles of ayurveda, which are the Vedic view of creation, the principles of the five elements and how their qualities affect the body.
  • You will learn how to evaluate the doshas in yourselves and recognize how the doshas aggravate the body and cause disease.
  • And also know which foods should be included in a healthy diet and issues related to each.
  • You will learn about  issues related to food combining and how it affects digestion and will be able to make basic staples for a healthy diet and life style.

Fourth Theory class ( 1 hour)

  • You will learn about the philosophy behind the use of sound and vibrations, frequencies and resonance to heal the physical, mental, and emotional bodies.
  • During this workshop we will talk about some very simple and basics concepts about sound, covering these subjects:
  • Sound, Frequency, Resonance, Cymatics, Entrainment, Brain Waves and Sonic Entrainment.

Asana and Pranayama sessions:

  • 2 Morning sessions of 3 hours each, where you will learn the complete traditional Hatha Yoga Sivananda system which includes sun salutations, different kinds of pranayamas ( breathing techniques) ,12 basis asanas (steady poses) and final relaxation. Sivananda Yoga is a complete healing system designed to help the body maintain a natural healthy state. The practice of Sivananda Yoga is intended to tone and strengthen all of the muscle groups of the body. The objective of the class is to instruct students in the correct practice of yoga asanas, enabling the student to deepen his daily practice. The 3 hour session will allow you to receive important and specific information about the correct performance and alignment of the asanas and proper breathing.
  • 3 Morning sessions of 3 hours each , where you will learn the practice of Yin Yang Yoga, which blends two styles of yoga into one practice – bringing together the benefits of passively holding yoga poses with more dynamic sequences and standing postures.

Yin and Yang are the Taoist concepts which describe the two relative qualities present in everything. Yin is more internal, passive, cooling and downward. While Yang is more external, dynamic, warming and upward. When these terms are applied to yoga, Yin Yoga is a slower practice where poses are passively held for longer, working on the deep, dense (Yin) connective tissues and joints in the body. Yang Yoga in contrast refers to a more active practice working on the (Yang) muscles and blood flow, building strength, stamina and flexibility. Yang styles of yoga are those with rhythm and repetition like Vinyasa Flow.
For a balanced yoga practice we need to include both Yang and Yin aspects. Combining both Yin and Yang elements in one class provides a balanced practice and can have a powerful effect on energy levels.

  • 2 Afternoon sessions ( 1 and half hour) of  Yin Yoga, which is a slower practice where poses are passively held for longer, working on the deep, dense (Yin) connective tissues and joints in the body. Yin yoga poses stretch the subtle, more stable connective tissues of the body rather than the large, dynamic muscle groups that are worked in Yang yoga sequences. A Yin Yoga session is a great opportunity to truly relax, as the attention is turned inward, the focus on the body and the present moment can help to calm the mind increasing body awareness and decreasing stress levels.

The practice of yin yoga can also take your flexibility to the next level. By holding each pose, you’re giving the body a chance to stretch not only the muscles, but also the connective tissue that holds everything together, such as ligaments, tendons, and fascia. Yin yoga classes provide the time and place for you to just relax ,breathe and surrender to the present moment.

  • 1 Sound Bath session ( 3 hours). Sound baths are meant to help facilitate a shift in your brainwave state. Through frequency and entrainment with sound it’s possible, and very easy, to down-shift our normal beta state (normal waking consciousness) to alpha (relaxed consciousness), with the majority of people able to reach theta (meditative state) and even delta (where internal healing can occur). This experience is helpful for anyone who wants to give themselves a moment of relaxation or gain the benefits from meditation, but has not yet learned how to access on their own.

For beginners, meditation requires a verbally guided experience, i.e- go to a quiet place and find a stream or repeat a mantra… The sound bath experience is about letting the sound take you to a deeper place making it easier to arrive in a relaxed state without complicating how to get there. Sound is the vessel and it allows you to explore and identify what a meditative state is and how it feels. Because of this, a sound bath is not only beneficial for beginners of meditation, a seasoned meditator will find as many benefits.

The sounds are created by a wide range of instruments (about 150 instruments)  with different frequencies which can include pulse Drumming, Biosonic tuning forks, Gongs, Shruti box, Himalayan singing bowl, Mbiru, various percussions, Chimels, Bilas, overtone singing, indian, latin and aborigines Flutes, Coto Japanese , hand Arp,etc…

Guided Meditations

Each yoga session will finish with 30 minutes of guided meditation. Every time you will learn a different technique, so that you can have a better vision about the form of meditation which could be more suitable to your nature. The techniques are including, Chakra meditation, Zen, Visualizations and Yoga nidra, which is one of the practices of meditation where the awareness is internalized. Literally, yoga nidra means ‘psychic sleep’ i.e. sleep with full awareness. In the practice of yoga nidra the body sleeps but the mind remains awake listening to the instructions. In psychology, the state achieved in yoga nidra is termed the hypnogogic state, a state between sleep and wakefulness. Nidra Yoga prevents stress and stress-related disorders by inducing deep physical, emotional and mental relaxation, by training the mind to remain calm and quiet and by rooting out the repressed desires and thoughts from the deeper realms of the mind. As a promotive science, yoga nidra awakens the inherent creativity and promotes the learning and memory abilities of the practitioner.
